Nineteen of Medvedev's 21 victories have been earned on hard surfaces

A revitalized Medvedev claimed his maiden title for over two years with a win over Corentin Moutet in the tournament title decider.

The Russian, a ex- world number one, has had a difficult period, achieving just one win at the major tournaments and suffering a meltdown at the New York tournament.

The player's inconsistency on the tennis tour - and struggles with his serve in especial - resulted in him falling of the world's top 10 and ultimately splitting with former coach Gilles Cervara.

Now collaborating with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, he has steadily improved in the recent weeks - culminating in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over challenger Moutet.

It is his maiden championship following the Rome competition and maiden on a hardcourt from spring of that year.

The win also signifies Medvedev has won twenty-one victories at twenty-one various competitions.

"It's the first time I am participating in a competition with my children at once, so to get a title is especially meaningful," said world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.

"This championship is in dedication of my younger daughter her name, because the maiden victory I won when my first daughter my daughter was born was for her."

The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his last six title deciders, including in the German tournament earlier this year.

The player's defensive play style and regular reactions on the tennis court had led some to question if his skill to play at the highest level was over.

Yet the 29-year-old has made changes in the past month, attempting to approach the net and perform positively, reinforced by an improved serve.

He fought back from a deficit in the initial set against the difficult Moutet, winning four of the concluding five points to gain the advantage.

Both players traded break points in the second set before Moutet, striving for his first ATP Tour championship, gained dominance to force a third set.

Moutet rescued 4 early chances in a close third set before the champion won the break to 15 to serve for the match.

Appropriately, Medvedev secured victory with a rally at the front of the court, with Moutet failing to handle a volley after over two and a half hours.
